What are the Qualifications Needed

It all starts with your GCSE’s, which are academic qualification that young people aged 14-16 take in their secondary schools.

These GCSE’s are incredibly important, especially Maths and English as those grades can determine whether or not you get hired for any job you want to apply for.

The necessary grades to pass are C-A*, if your English and Maths grades are within that range, then most businesses and organisations will hire you as it shows that you reached the minimum grade for functional skills.

However, if your English and Maths grades were not up to standards and very bad, some organisations offer you the chance to take a functional skills exam, where if you pass, you will have gained english and maths qualifications equal to a GCSE grade. Both qualifications are set to Level 2, which, in GCSE terms, mean C-A* grades.

Majority of employers look for at least GCSE grade 4/C in each subject, so English and maths skills could be the difference between you getting the job or promotion you want or not. Employers will always keep functional skills in consideration.

You’re more likely to get into university

The majority of university courses look for at least 4/Cs in GCSE English and maths as this shows you have a good understanding of the subjects. Not getting a 4/C in these subjects might limit your chances of getting into university.

Help you communicate with and understand the world around you

It’s impossible to go a day without using english and maths skills, and a good level of understanding means that you can have more control over things like your finances, communication, and you can gain a better understanding of issues such as politics and current affairs.

It's good for your health

Studies show that higher levels of literacy and numeracy are linked to better health and a longer lifespan. These skills also have a positive impact on your mental health.
