Importance of Health & Safety

The Health and Safety at Work Act was introduced in 1974 and established to protect both employees and employers from potential threats in the workplace environment. Under this Act, it states that it is the responsibility of everyone to work in a healthy and safe manner.

Many industries and businesses need to perform some training in health and safety for themselves and their employees so they understand what to do in certain situations. For example, if someone is injured in the workplace, everyone needs to be able to act accordingly to the situation, like assessing the injury, calling an ambulance if necessary, helping to relieve the injured person’s pain etc. This is just one example out of many health and safety issues that can occur in any workplace environment.
