Introduction

for those that would like work in the security industry, or the taxi-service industry, we provide SIA and PCO licence training. These Licences are mandatory if you want a job at any of the above two fields and we can help you acieve this with our extensive courses. At the end there will be examinations to evaluate what you have studied and what needs to be done to achieve your certification for each of these courses.

Overview:
The PCO Licence, also known as the Private Hire Driver Licence, allows you to work as a minicab driver or chauffer. The PCO licence is valid for 3 years and is issued by the PCO (Public Carriage Office), who are part of Transport for London (TfL). With the PCO Licence, you are able to work for private operators as a driver.

How to apply for a PCO licence?
You will need to pass the Topographical Skills Test in order to apply for the licence.
The Assessment will test:
  • Map-reading skills
  • Identifying points of interest using a map
  • Route planning and navigational skills
  • Directional skills
  • Road signs and driver responsibilities

Overview:
The security industry authority (SIA), which was created under the private security industry act 2001, is an independent organisation responsible for effectively regulating the private security industry across the United Kingdom in order to reduce criminality, raise standers and recognise quality service.

SIA Functions:
  • To license individuals in specific sectors and to approve security companies.
  • To keep under review the private security industry and the operation of the legislative framework.
  • To monitor the activities and effectiveness of those working in the industry.
  • To conduct inspections.
  • To set and approve standards of conduct, training and supervision within the industry.
