Overview:

The PCO Licence, also known as the Private Hire Driver Licence, allows you to work as a minicab driver or chauffer. The PCO licence is valid for 3 years and is issued by the PCO (Public Carriage Office), who are part of Transport for London (TfL). With the PCO Licence, you are able to work for private operators as a driver.

  • Q. Can I work as an Uber Driver with a PCO licence?
    Yes. With the PCO Licence, you are able to work for private operators as a driver, this includes as a driver for Uber.

  • Q. Do I need an English qualification to gain a PCO license?
    Yes, a minimum of a GCSE/L2 English qualification must be achieved before you can get a PCO license.

  • Q. How old must I be to become an Uber driver?
    You must be at least 21 years old to be an approved Uber driver.

    Yes you can.

  • Q. Will I be able to pay the application fee over the phone?
    The fee must be paid through your personal online account or at a participating UK post office (if we ask you to go to a post office to have your identification documents verified). Alternatively, your employer will be able to pay the application fee on your behalf through their online business account.
